i downloaded the kickstart files from cloanta and the won't work since they give me a rom checksum error.
Readme says i have to add the rom.key as extended rom file, but it only shows me *.rom files.

yeah the readme needs an update. the rom.key just needs to be in the same folde as the kickstart rom file. you might need to select that folder in 'paths' and rescan the roms.
