Hello!
For the past few hours I've been trying to get the latest revision of Chips' uae4arm running on Amibian, but have run into a few issues. For one, it's un-compileable on Amibian itself, as it lacks some dependencies that I cannot personally make out. But compiling with the instructions on the main repo [https://github.com/Chips-fr/uae4arm-rpi] worked fine on a quickly-prepared stock install of Raspbian (Stretch), and the program ran there.
However, after replacing one of the executables (In /root/amiga/, renaming the uae4arm executable as "6" in this case), it refuses to launch; either due to missing dependencies (libpng16?) or some other error that I, as an incompetent Linux user, cannot make out.
Does anyone know the exact dependencies the newest uae4arm requires to get working on Amibian, or otherwise know how to get this revision to function on Amibian?
Send me an email
Indeed, I've noticed.
Well, for me, I can't install 3.9 exclusively off UAE4ARM due to my extracted copy of the CD's files (Via WinUAE and the original CD), but just doing an off-site install on said desktop and copying that over still works.
Also not sure how to install the necessary drivers in AOS to get said Picasso96 resolutions to pick (Last time I tried installing uaegfx, the installation would just boot to a black screen), so I've had to resort to ClassicWB P96 instead; not my preference personally, but I'm still new to the Amiga emulation stuff so neh.
I added more picasso resolutions in there aswell.. 10 of them. All in 4:3 ratio.
To install os3. 9 you need to copy the folders of the cd and mount them, still a problem with mounting amiga iso.. Cd32 iso is good though.
I can confirm that it works.
Not only that, but found that Picasso96 displays in PAL mode work better than before, and doesn't have slowdown/cropping issues when running regular Amiga games. Seems to run slightly smoother in games that take advantage of P96 software rendering as well.
Only thing I can still see being a problem is a lack of CD drive mounting (I.E. A.OS9 installers don't pop into desktop like it should in WinUAE), but that's more a lack of progress with the emulator than anything else.
Also still not sure if CD32 button configuration works with external joysticks.
Its a small update, prettymuch just the new version of uae4arm by chips.
Now
Good to hear!
Of course, if you don't mind me asking, but is there any ETA we can expect on this upcoming update?
Amibian is missing dependencies to run the latest version of chips uae4arm. Will be fixed in next update.
Note that if you have made modifications to your amibian, the update may screw things up for you.
THANKS, I look forward to try the update
hey, I am now working on an update. The newest version of chips uae4arm will be included. Amiberry emulator is still on hold since its master branch has still not been updated, even though the development branch looks promising. Tonight or tomorrow night all you need to do is type update into the cli and you'll get the latest uae4arm from chips.
The reason you cant compile on Amibian is because Amibian is not made for compiling. If you want to use Amibian to compile you will need to install the proper tools to do so.
i am trying to figure out the same.
The folks behind UAE4ARM seem to keep all support here:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=110488&p=1256956#p1256956
page 23-24 seem to deal with this, right now, however you need to be a Linux expert to figure out how to perform this upgrade, it is far from as simple as how to upgrade amibian
(here you just write update in Linux cli and say yes to all)
