i'm running a clean install on a 3+ using os3.1 on a A1200 type profile. In every app whenever i press the x key, it automatically injects a carriage return. this makes using lha a bit of a challenge, though i'm thinking of writing scripts in a text editor on another machine in an attempt to get around that, though even if it does work, that wont help within applications. Any suggestions as to where to start with troubleshooting?

Solution: go into UAE’s Input settings and disable “Keyboard as Joystick”.
I have the same problem; any solution for this? It makes Amibian completely unusable for its intended purpose!
I have the same problem on every kind of emulated Amiga (A500 1.3, A600 3.1 and A1200 3.1)
If I press the "X" button I obtain an "x" with a carriage return. It's quite annoying especially when I need to write commands from the shell (for example: lha x programs:Installer-43_3.lha programs:)
I have also a similar problem when I press the button "2" because I obain a "2" followed by a "P".
Since I've posted this, I've come to realize it's a universal issue, same thing on the a500 profile using 1.3
That line was not in any of the scripts in :.S, but give me a little bit and I can get them posted.
Make sure you don't have this line in your startup-sequence:
FF >NIL: -0 ; Speed up text
Post a copy of your startup-sequence and and other scripts in S:.
